The Name Game.

A friend of mine sent me this baby name wizard link which shows the frequency of a given first name over the past 100 years. Check it out here Its quite interesting. I found a nice little blurb about my babypork here.

So my ugly name was most popular in 1970s. Maybe that's why I was named then. My mom didn't like my name but somehow my dad really liked it and wanted to name me that. My mom still suspects whether my father once had a lover named "Jenny" in his past. I wouldn't be surprised since my father once engraved another person's name onto a silver locket necklace for my mother because he told her his name was Vincent instead of David. Why did my father do that? I have no idea. But now that I think about it, its pretty darn funny. I think my mom still have that necklace somewhere.

I've gave thoughts about changing my name a while back. I truely hated my name, its so unoriginal and everyone on this earth is named "Jenny". The name is just unattractive to me. If it was my choice, I want a name that's unique and one-of-a-kind special but instead I have the most common name in the world. But I've realized how much work it takes to really do a whole name change here in the United States especially after Papapork went through all that at the County Court yesterday. Not only was it a bunch of effort and paperwork to fill out, he had to list his name in the local newspaper for 4 weeks straight as part of the procedure. What's the purpose of that? I have no idea, I just know that it wasn't cheap to do a name change. I think everything included was around $400 for it. What a rip-off. The government sure knows how to squeeze those dollars from us.

Fairytales.

I truly love asian MTVs...especially this one from Jay Chow that I got from my friend (thanks dorkyfish!). I really liked the fairytale concept of it. I wish I can upload the video here to share but I couldn't ... so you can click here to see the video (please be patient, might take some time to load - 47mb).

L_p10039471521_1 The story of this is so interesting and what I really liked about it is that its such a fairytale ... the story is so unreal and that's what makes this so fun and intriguing to me. Imagining things that are unreal enlightens me - maybe that's why I'm in the creative field, we love to have crazy imaginations. Often times, I love to just "daydream" and imagine ourselves in a world where there are nothing but "just two people being in love". Just two lovers roaming around a strange romantic town, worrying about nothing but just the two of them - no work, no friends, no bills, no cars, no distractions what-so-ever. Just two people in a strange new town exploring life together in this fairytale world.

In the video - who would ever imagined that the idea of someone shooting pictures through their camera phone on a daily basis would live a "phone fairy" besides them watching every photograph you take and looking over you. Its like a guardian angel that's besides us that we cannot see but only he/she can see us as we live our daily life each and everyday. This angel is there to help with any obstacles we have in life, guiding us to the right direction in search of that true love we're meant to meet in this lifetime.

I want to be that fairy angel... who can just live besides someone's life, watch over one person and my purpose is to help him find his true soulmate. Life would be so much more meaningful if a job as such exist on this planet. My projects would be to help find happiness for each individual. If that job exist, I might just be the first to apply. Job title: Fairy Angel needed for Fairyland Town. Responsibility: Search for love for those starving for their soulmate that they are meant to meet.

The hopeless romantic still lives within me.

Chinese Traditions.

So I've moved in for about a little more than a week now. Things have been well and I am truely enjoying my new place here each and every day.

Before our big move, papapork's mom (my in-law) was in-town from Hong Kong and was here with us during in the process of our move. In the Chinese tradition, a family should pick a "good date" and "good time" which was noted in one of those chinese type of a bible called "Toong Sing". I believe it was mostly for those who are superstitious and those who believes in buddism. Well, papapork and I decided to go with the flow on this since both side of ours parents feel strongly about doing this for "good luck".

So what's needed to be done? The date was chosen. Sunday, Memorial Day happened to be a great day for moving into a new home. The best time was between 8am-12pm. So that was good 'cause that works out before our movers arrive at 9am.

We get to the new house bright and early, arrived at around 7:45am. Waited outside since it was NOT time yet says grandmapork. Fred8am So we waited and waited... and checked everyone's watch... I felt a bit silly to be outside waiting for the "right time" to go in but mom said to wait so we waited. (Here's a silly photo of papapork showing that its finally 8am and we're ready to go in.)

8:05am arrives, we're ready and we're going in. Whoo-hoo! Mom mumbles some good fortune phrases as she steps into the house. We went straight to the kitchen, whippped out the kettle and started to "boil water". In chinese, water symbolizes "money & wealth". Boiling water is the first thing we did to start up our stove for the first time, it'll bring luck and wealth. Brought in our fan and turned it on while the water boils to symbolized the "spread of luck and wealth" all around the house as the breeze circulates the room.

PourriceThen we fill up our "rice bucket" with rice and grandmapork puts a "lai see" (red envelope with money inside) for good luck and much wealth in our future in this new home.

47b5d829b3127cce92782011ffe300000036138cThen is the lighting of the incense, each person lighted 3 inFredcense and walked to the front door and all 4 corners of the house to pay our respect to God of Buddism. I might be all wrong in my  explainations of what it truely symbolize but from my understanding, this was all for good luck. I've got nothing to lose I figured.

After all that, we're are finally ready for our move so back to our old house ... and pack and unpack.

So far, life has been good here, whether its the good luck that was brought into this home or the special selected date it was we have chosen... whatever it was, I am very grateful and fortunate that I am here at my new place - with my healthy little babypork, and a loving hubby and with all my close family who are all very healthy as well living so close-by to me.

Life is good. And I can't ask for more in my life right now.

Miracle.

An email chain letter I received today from my sister-in-law. One photograph that touched me in a different way. Its unfortunate that the photographer wasn't even given any credit for in this chain-letter that's being circulated. Whoever this photographer was that took this shot deserves ALL the credit here, for capturing such an amazing moment in one's life that touches anyone's that come across this photo. The power of photography. And the miracle of Life.

Read on below... and see the photograph for yourself...

Children Are Miracles

A picture began circulating in November. It should be "The  Picture of the Year," or perhaps, "Picture of the  Decade."    It won't be. In fact, unless you obtained a copy of theUS paper which published it, you probably would never have seen it.

The picture is that of a 21-week-old unborn baby named Samuel Alexander Armas, who is being operated on by surgeon named Joseph Bruner.

The baby was diagnosed with spina bifida and would not survive if removed
from his mother's womb. Little Samuel's  mother, Julie Armas, is an obstetrics nurse in Atlanta  She knew of Dr. Bruner's remarkable surgical procedure.  Practicing at Vanderbilt University Medical Centerin Nashville,  he performs these special operations while the baby is still in the womb.

During the procedure, the doctor removes the uterus via  C-section and makes  a small incision to operate on the  baby.  As Dr. Bruner completed the surgery on Samuel, the little guy reached his tiny, but fully developed
hand through the incision and firmly grasped the surgeon's finger.  Dr. Bruner was reported as saying that when his finger was grasped, it was the most emotional moment of his  life, and that for an instant during the procedure he  was just frozen, totally immobile.

The photograph captures this amazing event with perfect clarity.  The editors titled the picture, "Hand of Hope." The text  explaining the picture
begins, "The tiny hand of  21-week-old fetus Samuel Alexander Armas emerges from the  mother's uterus to grasp the finger of Dr. Joseph Bruner as if thanking the doctor for the gift of life." Little Samuel's mother  said they "wept for days" when they saw the  picture.  She said, "The photo reminds us pregnancy  isn't about disability or an illness, it's about a little person."

Samuel was born in perfect health, the operation 100 percent  successful.

Now see the actual picture, and it is  awesome...incredible....and hey, pass  it on.  The  world needs to see this one!

Random day.

Random finds for today...

Check out this "Toilet Bowl Restaurant" in Taiwan. I can't imagine the 2 idea going together as one. I'm interested to know how sucessful this restaurant really is right now. And I hope those lids are closed when one sits on there to eat. Oh man. http://www.coolhunting.com/archives/2005/05/toilet_bowl_res.php?rss

-------------

OMG, I got extremely excited for like 15 seconds when I saw this one today. Hk2Its a whole Hello Kitty Office Suite - stapler, tape dispenser, paper clip holder, etc. I can just see Papapork's big goldfish eyes looking at me if I show him this one.

-------------

Random things I need to do ...

... buy one of those old school Papasan Chair for Aidan's room. B0002evpee16 These chairs were popular way back but they were those traditional looking ones like this. But I only like the more modern looking ones 'cuz they seem much smaller and less bulky and more space conscious. I'm still debating whether I should get the one from Target or not, I wanna sit in it before I buy it though and I think its only available online. Hmm... should I, should I not... should I? What if the cushion is real thin and whimpy?? The disadvantage part of shopping online.

... get myself a nice head to toe complete make-over. From hair to make-up to my nails and all. I soooo need a new hairdo its not even funny. And I so need a whole weekend to just indulge in pampering. I am finding random bruise marks here and there on my body (No, my hubby is not beating me people...geez! what are you thinking?! hehe)... I think I've just beat myself up from my move, banging myself here, trying to act tough and carry things I can barely carry, Fridabanging up my arm here, cuts from the packaging tape dispenser (those sharp silver teeth) ... cuts here and scratches there. I think I even have bags under my eyes. I so need to just soak in a hot tub full of bubbles and lavendar right now... then turn on my all time favorite Jim Brickman, drag myself to get that oh-so-overdue mani/pedi session and then to my i-haven't-seen-for-so-long indian beauty threading queen to put that magic back onto my brows before I become Frida.

... get rid of that egg size beehives that have started in my new backyard right up on the fence. It's still the size of an egg now and I must wait no longer to get rid of that thing. I go back there and check on it each day, hoping it won't grow any bigger. Did I tell you how much I fear bees? Oh man. Someone, please come over and help us destroy that beehive. I'm still waiting for papapork to find the right gear and guts to go back there and destroy it. He told me maybe he'll do what Nick Lacey did on the Newly Wed show... which is I think... spray the heck out of it with some pesticides or water hose or something. Anyone got any great suggestions on how to take care of that one?
